The Story Behind the Sketchbook

I started posting short musical ideas on Instagram - sketches and melodies.
People began asking if they could use them in their own songs.

So I built a page on my site to share them one by one.
Eventually it got too big to manage, so I made it into a folder.

That folder turned into my personal place to drop anything I made that felt cool but didn’t have an immediate home.

Over time, it grew into almost 7 gigs of ideas - chords, melodies, song starters.
Now I keep organizing it, adding to it, and refining it.

It’s become a bit of a pet project...

Is this royalty-free? (For most people yes - full terms here)

ROYALTY FREE For Most Uses

These files are royalty-free for most uses.

MIDI Chord Progressions are always royalty free.
If you modify a sample or sketch until it can no longer be recognized, it is royalty free.
You don’t owe any extra fees or payments for your use of this content unless the below conditions apply.

NOT ROYALTY FREE Under These Conditions

If a project using an unmodified or recognizable sample or sketch from this pack:

Reaches over 1 million streams (Spotify, YouTube, etc)
Is released under a major or major indie record label, or
Is placed in a major sync deal (film, TV, advertisements)

You agree to:

Provide potential credit on the song (as appropriate)
Negotiate fair royalties for the use of the sample, depending on how much was used and it's significance in the song.

This clause is important because it allows me to share my best work with you, allowing us to explore collaboration opportunities and fair recognition only when appropriate. For most projects, this won’t apply and your use of the pack remains simple and royalty free.

Ownership

These MIDI files and samples are my original creations and remain my property. By purchasing, you’re getting a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the files.

What You CAN DO

Use and modify these files in your music productions, whether personal or commercial.
Sell or distribute your finished songs made with these files on streaming platforms, in videos, podcasts, performances, or other creative projects, provided they follow these terms.
Study any of these files for educational purposes.

What You CAN’T DO

Include the files in other packs, templates, or projects for resale. Sell, share, or give away these files on their own, or claim them as your own creation.
Upload the files as standalone pieces online.
Use these files in AI training datasets or models.

CONTENT ID Policy

You may not register any songs containing an unmodified or recognizable sample with Content Identification services (AdRev, Identifyy, YouTube Content ID).
This can cause problems for others who are using the same sample legally. If your song uses the sample in a way that is heavily modified or transformed, you may register it. Reach out if you are unsure.
